[ferret_users] time axis definition and precision

Dear ferret users,

I have a bunch of measurement data with a temporal resolution of seconds (and
even fractions) , which have been made occasionally over several years. Thus
the data are very irregularly spaced (from fractions of seconds to months, in
total more than 100000 data points).
When I try to use the data to build a time axis from, I receive an error
message
**ERROR: improper grid or axis definition: unrepairable repeated axis coords
I use

let time4axis=24*DAYS1900(1900,t_month,t_day)*3600+t_hr*3600+t_min*60+t_sec

define axis/from/T0="01-JAN-`yyyy`:00:00:00"/name=t_ax/unit=seconds time4axis

I checked the data several times and found that the data are clean (i.e.
monotonic and NOT repeated), but the single precision of ferret limits the
time axis construction.

Is there a way to circumvent that problem?

Thanks,

Peter
