[ferret_users] appending 2 netcdf files problem

Hi all,

 I have a problem while appending two files of same
variable.I have a file of variable u with following
grid specifications. 
name       axis              # pts   start            
   end
 LON41_680 LONGITUDE          640mr   10.125E         
    169.88E
 LAT61_480101_420 LATITUDE    320 r   49.875S         
    29.875N
 LEV       HEIGHT (millib       1 r-  1               
    1
 TIME      TIME              2192 r   01-JAN-2000
00:00    31-DEC-2005 00:00

Another file of same variable with following grid:
 GRID GNE1
 name       axis              # pts   start           
    end
 LONGITUDE LONGITUDE          720mr   179.75W(-179.75)
    179.75E
 LATITUDE  LATITUDE           320 r   79.75S          
    79.75N
 normal    Z
 TIME      TIME               365 r   01-JAN-2006
12:00    31-DEC-2006 12:00
While appending I am getting the following error:
**TMAP ERR: attempt to redefine line
             # of dims in variable U is inconsist. w/
CDF file
 I believe this error came because one file has z axis
defined and another file has z axis not defined. But I
dont know how to solve this problem. Can anybody say
how to solve this problem?
