Re: [ferret_users] overlaid time series' axis ranges

Ferret does many wonderful things, but predicting the future is not one of them. How could any program anticipate what the range of variables B,C and D a user might want to plot/over?

Why not do the whole plot in a single command?:

plot A,B,C,D,....

Hi Ferreters,

i don't know if it has been discussed before, but i found that if i have several time series overlaid on one view port such as

plot/grat=(dash) A
plot/over B
the vertical axis range of the resulting plot is set so that it matches the dynamic range of the first time series (which is A here). therefore if B has a larger dynamic range than A, part of it will probably be cut off out of the view port.

i can explicitly set the axis range using the /vlimits option. but in the case there are automatic ways to adjust the vertical axis range to accommodate all overlaid time series, i'd happy to know them.

Thanks,
David
