[ferret_users] repeat and append netcdf

hello,

 I want to write a script that will open a large number of models  
output (monthly), calcule the thermocline and add the thermocline  
depth as a new variable to the mode output (netcdf)

for the moment I managed to calcule the thermocline depth, but I  
don't know how to

  1) how to repeat the process with different file names?

  2) how to append the variable to the existing netcdf?
I tried
yes? list/append/file="roms10_avg_Y12M5_bis.nc"/format=cdf  
thermocline_rough
but I get a segmentation fault
