Re: [ferret_users] **ERROR: inconsistent sizes of data regions: X axis
Hi Bob,
Try turning on SET MODE DIAG before issuing the FILL command. This will
show you what range of data is requested to evaluate the different
elements of the expression. There's an FAQ on reading this diagnostic
output - http://www.ferret.noaa.gov/Ferret/FAQ/other/mode_diagnostic.html
I haven't worked it out in detail but this has to do with reconciling
the range of data needed for the fill command based on the definition of
div.
You might define div without specifying the range of indices:
let div = au[i=@ddc] + av[j=@ddc]
and let the range be determined by the fill command
fill div[x=-30:60,y=-20:40,k=1,l=1]

I am calculating the divergence from U and V:
use U_p.f30.100c_br1.cam2.h1.0350_0369-05-01_10-31_emean.nc
use
"../../f30.101a_br1/stats/U_p.f30.101a_br1.cam2.h1.0250_0269-05-01_10-31_emean.nc"
let au = 'U'[d=2]-'U'[d=1]
use V_p.f30.100c_br1.cam2.h1.0350_0369-05-01_10-31_emean.nc
use
"../../f30.101a_br1/stats/V_p.f30.101a_br1.cam2.h1.0250_0269-05-01_10-31_emean.nc"
let av = 'V'[d=4]-'V'[d=3]
let div = au[i=1:128@ddc] + av[j=1:64@ddc]
I can plot the entire field:
fill div[k=1,l=1]
But if I try to plot a sub-region:
fill div[x=-30:60,y=-20:40,k=1,l=1]
I am told:
**ERROR: inconsistent sizes of data regions: X axis
AV[J=1:64@DDC] has 11 points (I=118:128)
expression has 128 points (I=001:128)
I'm not sure what to make of this. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Bob
