[Ferret] using viewports, ppl and shade

Hi all-
I am attempting to create a 4 panel figure like:
set viewport ul
shade/nolabel/set_up/d=1 rainnc[i=1:100,j=1:100,l=1]; go land 1 " " 1 1
ppl title "My title"
ppl shade

The result is the upper left panel having a map displayed but no data or 
title.

Is there a way to add your own title *in the viewport* ?
