Have you tried that command?

Maybe it's boring, but I think it would work if you use "gksm2ps" to make a ps file then transfer it to gif. Notice that you would need an X window if following that way.

Your problem might be a bug of Ferret on PC, so let's just find the working way before it's fixed.
