Re: Images creation from ferret

Hi Aggeliki,
I need more information to try to help.

What operating system are you running Ferret on, and what version of Ferret? (This information is included in the lines that are written to your screen when you start Ferret.) Do you have write permission in the directory where you are running Ferret? As a test of the permissions in the directory, when you are finished with a Ferret session, is there a ferret.jnl file, and does it contain the commands you used?

Here's a quick outline of the ways to get graphics files. When you say ferret -gif, Ferret starts up. Enter your plot commands, and then issue a frame/file=filename.gif to produce the gif output.
> ferret -gif
yes? plot/i=1:20 1./i
yes? frame/file=myfile.gif
yes? exit

ferret -batch needs a filename on the startup line.

yes? plot/i=1:20 1./i
yes? exit

ferret metafiles are a third way to make output graphics files. The unix command Fprint converts these to postscript.

Dear users

i hope this is not a boring question. I have pretty much followed
everything that would relate to creating a gif or even a ps file from
ferret. Nothing works. Basically a file is created but it does not contain
anything. i have tried ferret -gif and i have tried ferret -batch. What am
i doing wrong?

Thank you
