Re: Hardcopy: Half of a plot

Hi James,
I haven't seen this before. Try making your plot by starting Ferret using the -gif command line option:

> ferret -gif
yes? commands...
yes? frame/file=test.gif

This runs Ferret in a mode which writes the gif file directly. When you issue the FRAME command in standard mode with an X-window open, Ferret makes the gif by grabbing the image back from the X window. I expect there's some kind of mismatch between what Ferret sees as the screen size, and the size of the actual image.

In fact, I just tried a test, where I made a plot in an x-window, moved the image partially off the edge of the screen, and did a FRAME/FILE=test.gif The resulting gif was chopped off .

I am having a little difficulty making a hardcopy of the plots I produce
in ferret.

When I attempt to make a .gif file of my plot, using:
frame/file=test.gif
,the output, when viewed using gimp, is only half of the original plot
(the top half). Even when I explicitly specify the range.

When I instead try to save a hard copy by changing to meta mode, and then
use Fprint to convert the meta file to a .ps file, the output is only the
left half of my plot.

Any suggestions? Perhaps my computer is not allocating enough memory
space to ferret?
