I said X in my previous mail, but I see you were talking about a time 
axis. 

yes? define axis/t=1:400:1  tax
yes? let new_var = var[gt=tax@asn]
yes? list/L=1:5 new_var

If the data has other dimensions, those axes would be unchanged by the
regridding function.

yes? list/x=20/y=0/k=1/L=1:5 new_var
