Re: how to do gridding

Hi Sriram,
The general process for regridding is to

1) Define the output axis
2) Use a regridding transformation to put the data onto the
new axis.

There is an FAQ which describes the process of regridding monthly
to annual data. You want to do a similar thing, but regridding to a
monthly axis. The FAQ is at

http://www.ferret.noaa.gov/Ferret/FAQ/analysis/annual_from_monthly.html

The concept of a "month" is ambiguous. You need to decide how you
want to define the output monthly axis. Will the months be of equal length,
or will they be calendar months? Will the center of each interval be the
middle of the month?

Here is an example, for data in the year 2004, with equal length months

yes? define axis/edges/t="1-jan-2004":"31-dec-2004":1/units=months tmon
yes? let uwnd_month = uwnd[gt=tmon]

yes? list/x=180/y=0 uwnd_month

Hello,

I have one year daily data which shows in ferret as
follows:

name title I J K L UWND mean 1:144 1:73 ... 1:366
Daily u-wind at sigma leve

Any clue as to how one can get the monthly average
data from this?

Tried to use climatological_axis, but confused later.

Regards,
Sriram
