colomn average and griding of ACSII file

Hello Ferret Users,

Sorry for posting this question again on ferret list. .

After discussing with Ansley personally, I decided
to put this question on the list again in some more
clear and easy way.

I have scattered aircraft observations, look at
the aatched part of the data with this mail.

Let me explain what I want to do.

Actually my main aim with this aircraft data is to compare it with the column averaged satellite CO2 concentrations.

Therefore first I want to compute column average of flight data
and then I want to grid it on the same grid as satellite data to
solve my another problem(explained below).

The flight data has vertical profiles as well as horizontal
profiles, I want to exclude horizontal profiles beause I need
only vertical column averages.

So is it possible to take the vertical column average and then grid
the flight data as following :-

1> ./flight.nc (default)

name title I J K L
CO2 flight CO2 1:360 1:180 ... ...

MY SECOND PROBLEM :_

Now I have the satellite data on the same grid :-

2> ./satellite.nc (default)

name title I J K L
CO2 satellite CO2 1:360 1:180 ... ...

SO now is it possible that I can subsample this satellite data on the
same locations as above flight data.

Because both the data are on the same grid now so it should be
possible to subsample in ferret.

Am I right ?

I will welcome your suggations on the above problems.

Many many thanks in advance.

Regards,
Yogesh
