Custom line colors

Hi,
    I'm trying to make images that contain many different custom line 
colors,  but I am getting some odd results with the PPL COLOR command.  
The problem seems to occur when re-defining a color index more  than 
twice in the same script.  I've dumped the results of one of my tests 
into a web page to make it easier to see what's happening:

Does anyone know a way around this?  Thanks.  Lynn
