Re: Missing data



Hi Rolando,
Are you using the SHADE or FILL command? The SHADE command
colors all grid cells wherever there is data that's not marked by the
missing-value flag.  Ferret does not have information on where the
coast is unless you give it some coastal information, and doesn't do
anything to the data as it plots.  Perhaps your other package does
some filling or smoothing?  To see what data Ferret is working with,
you can try listing parts of the data, for example, a line across a
constant latitude:

   list/y=25.5N/x=83w:79w temperature

You might also compare with the Ferret FILL command, which
smooths the data as in a contour plot.  See documentation under
FILL and under CONTOUR for how to customize the call to
this command.
