Hi Jennifer - 

Also, to ensure that you exit completely out of Ferret, you can use the 
new
   exit/program

command qualifier.  See 
http://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/Ferret/Documentation/Users_Guide/current/Com
mands_Reference.htm#_VPINDEXENTRY_1169

for a bit more information on the different exit command qualifiers.
