Ferret V5.5 on Irix 6.5

Hi all,
  I installed Ferret V5.5 on my SGI O2 workstation running Irix 6.5. 
The install seemed to go fine.  I grabbed all three files 
(executables, environment, data sets) and installed them all in case 
something had changed.   Ferret runs, but crashes if I try to plot 
anything.  Here is the error message:

Encountered during a sequential formatted READ from unit 10
Fortran unit 10 is connected to a sequential formatted text file:
  "/usr/local/ferret/ppl/fonts/fondat.dat"
 Current format:   983 FORMAT(1X,2A2,I2,I5,A9)
                                             ^
Abort (core dumped)

I've never had trouble with a ferret install before, and the previous 
version (5.22) still runs fine.  Any ideas?  Lynn
