Re: ferret on redhat 7.3

Hello All,

I'm having similar troubles on RH7.3/KDE3.0. It seems to me that installing openmotif21-2.1.30-1.i386 is going back to a earlier version since libXm.so.3 is on the system. As a hack, I tried creating a symbolic link from libXm.so.3 to libXm.so.2, and although this gets me past the load libraries error, it leaves me at the same point that Viviane refers to.

Is not the answer to recompile ferret against the newer version of openmotif (openmotif-2.2.2-5.rpm)?

Thanks!

Hi,
I'm trying to install Ferret 5.4 on Red Hat 7.3, and I've had a few problems. Fortanetely, it
could find the aswers to it at user list: it was lack of openmotif . But, after I had install
that, I've got followig message when I try call "ferret" : Segmentation Fault. Someone could
tell me what is this meaning? What should I do?

Thanks,

Viviane

Hi Martinho,

What Glenn said is correct, they omitted the shared object files for
whatever reason. If you install openmotif version 2.1.30-8, it will fix
the problem.

You can find the openmotif rpm's at rpmfind.net (a very handy tool).

Try
http://www.rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/rawhide/1.0/i386/RedHat/RPMS/openmotif21-2.1.30-1.i386.html
(which seems to be working properly).

Cheers,

Brent
