shading MISSING_VALUE in netcdf data

Hi, there:

I tried to shade the area of missing_value (land) in
netcdf data set, but failed.

It seems to me that the missing value is not
recognized by ferret as a "number".

assume arr is the SST of a netcdf file and
missing_value is 1.e20.
I used the following ferret commands:

let land = if arr1 eq 1.e20 then 1
shade/nolabel/nokey/over/palette=gray	land

No shading at all!

I also tried
shade/nolabel/nokey/over/palette=gray/lev="(100)
(1.e20)" arr[d=1]

No shading either. I got the expected contour in both
cases.

Any comments are welcomed.
