Hi Paulo,
This might do the trick:  If you first make a time axis from
the values than you can use RETURN=tstart

     yes? use coads
     yes? say `sst[l=45],return=tstart,precision=3`
      !-> MESSAGE/CONTINUE 16-SEP-1949

So you could do something like:

     yes? plot/l=45/x=180/title="`sst[l=45],return=tstart,precision=3`" sst
