Hi Andres,

                I have also install ferret on my linux .
                My distribution is redhat6.1 and mdk7.2 (Two workstation)
                They all works fine (including GUI interface)
                I think the problem is you need linking ferret to
/usr/lib/X11/app-defaults
                I have the same problem before.
                And i can't use GUI interface a long time.
                Since i saw the

                And create links, everything is O.K.
