I'm sorry I forgot the MLD & TCD.jnl yesterday. Now T
added it before the data I analyzed.
I'm still at a loss when touching
upon the calculation of Mixed Layer Depth (MLD) and Thermocline Depth (TCD).
Recently I have read and tried some
scripts about computing MLD and TCD. For calculation of MLD, there are
MLD01.jnl and MLD02.jnl (surppose). The former one is bases on temperature
criteria, the other one is based on density criteria. The results show that the
spacial distribution is similar, but values are different with the latter one
smaller than the former one. I wonder know under what conditions
calculation of MLD based on temperature
criteria is the best one?
For calculation of TCD,
there are two kinds of methods too. One is to find the maximum
temperature vertical gradient, the other is based on formular printed on
JPO(2000) . Results from these two method are significantly defferent . In
addition, I can plot MLD in the South China Sea (SCS) but there is no TCD values
by method one. Why there is MLD but not TCD in the same place?
Moreover, although I can draw TCD
by method 2 in the SCS, but the values can reach to 400~500m. Is it possible?
What's wrong then?
The last question is it possible
that MLD is deeper than TCD in the same point at the same time? It happens under
what conditions? I say it for I meet it (MLD by method 1 and
TCD by method 2). For example, the following data is
9levels(0,25,50,75,100,125,150,200,250), 365days (1998-04-10~1999-04-09). The
format is as below:
