Hi Muyin,

Check out the discussion in the FAQ on sigma coordinates
(http://ferret.wrc.noaa.gov/Ferret/FAQ/data_management/sigma_coordinate_demo.html).
The approach based upon ZAXREPLACE (or ZAXREPLACE_AVE) should do the trick for you.
