How does one get the ferret label command to work on a contour ploton Linux?

I can get the label command to work for the plot command, but not for
the contour (shade,..) commands on RH Linux 6.0.

Specifically, if I try:

DEFINE AXIS/X=74.5W:4.5W:1/UNIT=DEGREE xlon
DEFINE AXIS/Y=56.75N:84.75N:0.5/UNIT=DEGREE ylat
DEFINE GRID/X=xlon/Y=ylat  gr105

SET REGION  /X=74W:15W
FILE/SKIP=6/VAR="hd,H" /GRID=gr105 mydata

contour hd
LABEL 60W,81.66N,0,0,0.2 @C13"MY LABEL"
------------
no label shows up, nor do I get any error messages.

HELP, I need to get to get my slides together by tomorrow for a
conference!
