Ferret on 98

I have reinstalled Ferret on 98 a few times now and I still get the
following errors.

'Out of environment space
Too may parameters
******Warning**********
You must set your X server DISPLAY variable
Use the Control Panel .....[ note this only works in NT]
......
ferret.sh: exec: bash: not found'

I do have an X-Term running.  Any ideas?
