FOCI has science- and product-oriented goals. The scientific goal is to better understand the marine ecosystem. The operational goal is to forecast abundance of pollock. FOCI's operational customer is the North Pacific Fishery Management Council, the body that sets the rules and quotas for fishing in the North Pacific and Bering Sea US waters. By helping the NPFMC steward resources, FOCI research benefits the fishing industry and consumers. |
