A
limpet growth experiment deployed in 2003 as it is being recovered
by ROPOS at the Marker 33 site.
Dive R855 continued until the end of the day, almost a 40-hour dive. In
between pressure sensor measurements, a number of other instruments were
deployed and recovered. Six miniature temperature recorders (MTRs) were
picked up after a year's deployment and one MTR was found from a 2002
deployment. New temperature recorders were deployed in their place to
monitoring changes at the vent sites in the coming year.
The
Marker 33 site continues to be a location with numerous instruments. On
this dive a limpet growth cage deployed last year was replaced by a newer
version. Also at this site an experiment devised to test sulfide weathering
was installed.
