The R/V Thompson departed Seattle, Washington at 2030 Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) to start this year's NeMO expedition. To begin, the ship had a 24 hour transit to Endeavour Ridge. The trip to Endeavour was a change from our scheduled plan. Due to extremely poor weather during the previous Thompson expedition, researchers were not able to complete their work at Endeavour. We are presently en route to the main Endeavour vent field to deploy experiments, take samples and recover instruments. Following the detour to Endeavour, the NeMO dives and investigations will begin at Axial Seamount.
