T-Phase Project: Data Processing
For T-Phase Data Processing, I have implemented 2 major programs
using IDL.
One is used for processing the Navy's
SOSUS data,
and the other (TPD) is used for processing the NOAA's
Moored T-Phase data.
Also the TPD program is designed to read SOSUS and other T-Phase data
as well when they are needed.
The picture below shows the operational environment of the TPD programs.
It contains a display window for scrolling/showing the T-Phase data
signals and their specturm. A main interactive manual that contains
more than 20 perdefined functions or operations for users to choose.
A submanual provides control of individual column display.
The major operations for the TPD program are
Locate an T-Phase event origin
Perform Signal Analysis of the T-Phase specturm
and identify T-Phase signals by mathematical filters. The other functions are Scroll, Pause, Change colors, Exit, etc.
The program (TP) for processing the Navy's SOSUS data are much same as the TPD programs. The major difference bewteen TP and TPD is that the TP allows cross-correlations to be performed on the selected range of SOSUS data. It is because more than one hydrophones or an array of hydrophones are available at their stationary sites. There is only one hydrophone/site for the Moored T-Phase data.
