Marker-33 vent was one of the first vents seen on newly
erupted lava in 1998, and it is still going strong 8 years later. Prior
to the eruption, this area was covered by tubeworms, now re-colonizing
the vents. [Strangely, our vent markers always seem to disappear from
this popular vent site.]
