Re: [las_users] How to put WODB to LAS?

Takaya,

I am having no problems with this interface.  Be sure that you have java and javascript enabled in your browser
  1. Select "World Ocean DataBase Profile Observations"
  2. Click on "Temperature", then click on "Next >"
This should take you to a page with a map that allows you to select a region.

Dear Jonathan

Thank you very much for your kindness.

When I go to
http://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/WODB/servlets/dataset and
select dataset and variables, I can not select the region
because there is no map and no long-lat input boxes
either.

Is there something wrong? or it is so intentionally.

If the WODB is 11 G and I need to download all, I will
download later because I stay in Argentine until the end
of this year temporally where Internet is slow.

Best Regards,

Takaya Namba

Takaya,

Joe Mclean no longer works in the LAS group. The
problem with setting up
the TMAP WODB database yourself is the large size of
the files involved.
The files take up 11 Gigabytes of space.

I have rebooted the WODB server on our machine so
perhaps you can
download files from there. But please don't ask it
to deliver large
ASCII files as that may cause an OutOfMemory error.
Ask for a netCDF
file instead.

The URL is:

Dear Joe Mclean

I am sorry to repeat the same question again.
I would like to put only the Argentine part of WODB

in my

LAS. What I have done is use ODV to read WODB and

export

ascii data to a file and write sql script to input

all the

data to sql database by
"INSERT INTO argentine VALUES (........)".
Finally I got the LAS JGOFS style of WODB of

Argentine in

stead of JGOGS Arabian Sea.

If you do not mind, I would like to try WODB netcdf
developed by you with TMAP:WODB:Dataset because it

may be

easier to input LAS than sql.

Best Regard,

Takaya Namba
