Hello LASers,
I have sent an example of the problem with automatic scaling to the
Ferret
development people. They have been able to identify a bug with Ferret
5.8 and
5.81, where, if the variable your are working with is not “first”
in the netCDF file then automatic scaling using add_offset and
scale_factor will
not be applied. This problem only applies if you are opening a netCDF
file through a Ferret descriptor file. My thanks to Jonathan
Callahan for
pointing me in the
right direction and to the Ferret group for investigating the problem.
I would
imagine that the problem will be
fixed in the next release of Ferret.
Regards
Peter Turner

Subject: [las_users]
automatic
scaling of netCDF data - NOT
Hi,
I
have been
running a LAS server for sometime and recently upgraded to a newer
version.
(6.3?
to 6.4.2) (www.marine.csiro.au/las/servlets/dataset)
. I though when we set this up everything was looking OK, however,
I have recently noticed the SST data served is nolonger scaled to SST.
The netCDF data set has a scale_factor (0.16) and an add_offset (15)
but this
scaling is not being applied to the data. Is there a known problem with
this version
of LAS, or is it something stupid I have messed up?
Regards
