Thanks Mike!

I have installed the newest version of LAS and now the map applet allows 
selection of random areas on Linux browsers.

However, if I select regions from the drop down list,  I don't get any 
selection on the map applet.
It seemed to be a cookie problem but even after enabling all cookies, I 
could not get it to work for the regions in the drop down menu. It still 
works fine on IE.
