Right.  But, if you are still interested, you might want to
run Ferret under strace or dtrace.  It will generate a lot of
outputs, but you can ignore them all, until Ferret hangs.
When it hangs, you may well find some clues in the outputs
from strace (or dtrace).  That's what I would do as a last resort
in this kind of situations.
