Use the netcdf operators (http://nco.sourceforge.net). The tool
"ncrcat" can catenate your NC files into one big file:

ncrcat *.nc one_big_file.nc

After that, follow the ferret manual to compute the monthly
climatology: go to 

http://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/Ferret/documentation

and search for "climatology" in the search box, right top of the
page.  First link is what you need.
