There is a temporary solution: the Google search.  The Ferret
mailing-list archive seems to allow Google to index into
the archive.  That means that you can go to Google to search
the Ferret archive.  For example, try

  "ferret_users"  monthly climatology

with the double quotation marks on the search box of Google.
