Have a broad read on the documentation, it will
give you background for this: http://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/Ferret/documentation/users-guide
Essentially, it is a matter of reading the data
from ascii, setting grid and attributes, and then just writing the
resulting variables via 'save/file=data.nc var1,var2,var3'.
There is a specific documentation section for this
matter on the documentation itself: http://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/Ferret/documentation/users-guide/converting-to-netcdf
Also, section 2.5 and 2.6 here will be very useful:
http://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/Ferret/documentation/users-guide/data-set-basics
You may rely on the ferret's documentation, it's
very rich and complete, yet simple to find what you need.
