When I typed M-x ansi-term, emacs asked which program I wanted
to run.  So, I answered /usr/local/bin/ferret and then I was
given a command line of Ferret.

So, if you can send the contents of a buffer to emacs's
ANSI terminal (I'm afraid I don't know how), you can
control Ferret from the buffer.
