Hi Dawn,

I got the same "problem" a few months ago and found the solution in the 
Ferret FAQ: see http://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/Ferret/Mail_Archives/fu_2005/

What you need to do is to edit the Postscript file created by Ferret and to 
"manually thicken" lines as explained in the above link.
