any angle cross-section

Hi Ferret gang, 
I have been successful in the past plotting a cross-section of data
(salinity vs depth) using one value for Latitude and a range of values for
Longitude. Very nice, very simple. 
Now I'm trying to plot a cross-section of the same data but at an odd angle,
not the normal straight across or up and down, say 30 degrees. I thought
somewhere in the online manual it would tell me to assign an upper right and
a lower left then wahlah..., but no, not so simple. 
I've been playing around with SAMPLEXY some and can do a 45 deg angle line
from the North West to South East for example, I'm assuming because the I
values have to be the same for xlon and ylat. 
See example in in the online manual showing: 
use levitus_climatology 
Let xlon = 234.5 + I{I=1:50] 
Let dely = 24./49 
Let ylat = 24.5 - dely*i[i=1:50] + dely 
plot/vs/line/sym=27 xlon,ylat 
go land 
So my question is, how would I do a cross section of salinity vs depth from
one lat long coordinate to another lat long coordinate where neither lat or
long are the same value?
