Hi Wendy,
There's an FAQ about how to do this using monthly climatologies,
and you can easily adapt it to compute a seasonal climatology instead,
and subtract that from your time series. The FAQ is at

There's also a discussion of the ideas in the Users Guide, see
"climatologies, creating" in the index.

These discussions both use the file "use climatological_axes"
which define several time axes including one called "seasonal_reg".
Use this axis, or define a similar one of your own.
