Hi Rolando,
I think your error may be in putting both variables together in
the FILE/VAR="taox,taoy"/

Do you intend for taox to be read from the file, then taoy?
If so, then you need to read taox first, then taoy.

FILE/VAR=taox/COLUMNS=6/GRID=mygrid var.dat
FILE/VAR=taoy/SKIP=5/COLUMNS=6/GRID=mygrid var.dat

(making sure that the skip has the correct value to skip to the
starting record for taoy data.)
