reading ASCII files

Dear Ferret users,

I'm a beginner Ferret-user, and I'd like it to read my ASCII tab-separeted data
files containing 5 colums and 865 rows:
col 1 = longitude
col 2 = latitude
col 3 = depth
col 4 = variable 1 concentration
col 5 = variable 2 concentration
I'd like Ferret to read these data and contour/shade/plot variables 1 and 2.
I've tried to create my own grid, but it didn't work, it didn't considered my
lon-lat-dep values.
