time axis labels

Hi,
I have a x/y plot where the x-axis is time.

input is from an ascii file a.dat:
1970    1
1971    1.1
1972    2.0
...
yes? file/var=yr,y1 a.dat
yes? list yr
             VARIABLE : YR
             FILENAME : a.dat
             SUBSET   : 3 points (X)
 1   / 1:  1970.
 2   / 2:  1971.
 3   / 3:  1972.
...
 plot/vs/line/hlimts=1970:1972:1 yr,y1

I get the x-axis labeled 1970.0, ... etc.
but it includes the decimal point.
How do I change the format of the labels on x-axis to integer so that decimals aren't included?
Is there a better way to plot a variable as a time series?
