defining varaible ii corresponding to x

Hi,

In a .jnl script, I would like to define a variable  as the index I (or
J)
corresponding to the box including the X-coordinate (or Y) of
a given point M(X, Y).

I looked on the E-mail archives, but did not find the solution
for that (maybe too !) simple problem.
