Hi Andrew,
This looks to be a subtle bug.  It does not have to do with the
/EDGES definition of the axis, per se.   If in your example you do
not plot sst, but only plot sst[gt=t2@ave], or just the two averages
together,  the average is computed correctly.

When Ferret plots the series sst and sst[gt=t2@ave] together, it uses
an incorrect range of indices for computing the average.   It happens
only for some cases where the last point on the axis you are regridding
to is just above a point on the original sst axis.   In any event, we have
a fix for this which will be in the next release of Ferret.
