KEO National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory NOAA
Kuroshio Extension Observatory (KEO)
  Kuroshio Extension System Study (KESS)

The KEO site is near the southern most KESS Profiler/ADCP/CM site. KEO was deployed on the KESS mooring deployment cruise aboard the R/V Thompson in June 2004. Chief scientist was Nelson Hogg (WHOI). KEO will turned around during the next 2 KESS mooring cruises (June 2005 and June 2006).

Surface flux measurements from the KEO buoy will contribute to climate studies of the role of the Kuroshio jet and its recirculation gyre. For more information on KESS, please visit the KESS homepage at the University of Rhode Island and the KESS Argo profiling floats homepage at the University of Hawaii.
