The KEO SAMI pH (bottom leg) and Seabird 16+ instruments, are mounted on the bridle under the buoy at a depth of 1 m. Both are covered in copper foil to minimize marine growth, especially goose neck barnacles. These instruments measure sea surface temperature and conductivity, pH, dissolved oxygen, gas tension, and chlorophyl fluorescence.
