The USNS Safeguard is one of the Military Sealift Commnand's four rescue and salvage ships and is part of Navel Fleet Auxiliary Force. It is 255 ft long, with a beam of 51 feet, and can travel at up to 14 knots. It is stationed in Sasebo, Japan.
