SEBSCC PI Meeting

At this year's SEBSCC Principal Investigators meeting we will summarize and synthesize results from the first research cycle (1996-1998).  Three thematic questions will guide us:

  1. What did we learn about interannual variability in the ecosystem from the contrasting environments observed during 1998, 1997, 1996 and before?
  2. What did we learn about the influence of interannual variability in the ecosystem from observations, retrospective studies and model simulations comparing circulation, its effect on pollock survival and upper trophic level interactions in the southeastern Bering Sea during warm and cold years?
  3. What environmental factors are candidates for inclusion in an index of juvenile pollock survival?
During the morning, each research component will be represented by a principal investigator who will present SEBSCC Phase I results in context of the three questions in a brief (~10 minute) talk.  Presenters will also submit their answers to these questions in electronic format (1-2 pages plus figures and tables) to the SEBSCC Coordinator before the meeting.

In the afternoon, we will break into three assigned groups, each group discussing and synthesizing information on one of the thematic questions.  For each theme the discussion group will produce a two-page synthesis with suporting figures and tables.
